Contract Signing Between Heavy Force Private Limited and HDC for the Development of Coastal Protection Structure and Quay Wall in Hulhumalé

On 12th May 2013, Housing Development Corporation signed the contract with Heavy Force Private Limited to develop the coastal area through Sheet Piling and building a Quay wall.

The foundation laying ceremony has been held for the Blue’s Housing Project. The project will be managed by HDC, and construction work undertaken by Noomadi Residence and Resort Anstalt.

Hulhumalé

Hulhumalé is the most ambitious and striving land reclamation and urban development project undertaken by the Government of Maldives to date. The perception for the development and expansion of Hulhumalé was envisioned as a significant step in improving the quality and eminence of life of the population and revitalizing the Maldivian economy. It is also with the intention to serve as an effective solution to the mounting problems of congestion within the capital region as well as a resource to facilitate and assist the continual growth of the country’s two dominant economic sectors, fisheries and tourism.

Maldives

The Republic of Maldives consists of 1196 low lying islands stretched over 820 km north to south and 128 km east to west in the Indian Ocean, to the South West of its closest neighbors, India and Sri Lanka. The islands are grouped into 26 natural atolls which, for purposes of administration, are officially grouped into 20. Most of the islands are quite small and low-lying, with an average elevation of 1.6 m above mean sea-level.
