Hulhumalé development aims to encourage the use of public transportation as one of the primary modes of transportation in the island. Types of public transport available at present include:
A ferry service is operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc. Ltd. (MTCC). It is conducted between Male’ and Hulhumale’ and operates daily between 5.30am-1.30am with ferries every half an hour leaving both from the Malé and Hulhumalé terminals. The average carrying capacity of the ferries is 110 people per boat and 2-wheel vehicles can also be transported in these ferries.Contact Number: 335 8585
School Bus Service, Public Bus Service and Airport Bus Service are available for the residents of Hulhumalé and is operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company. The public bus service operates to all areas of Hulhumalé where residents are currently residing and the bus schedule is set to coincide with ferry arrival and departure timings. The School bus scehdule is aligned with School timings.
Airport bus services is available in every one hour starting from 0600hrs till 0200hrs, and the bus leaves from the Bus Stop at Nirolhu Magu in neighborhood 1.
Taxi services are available throughout Hulhumalé and taxis can be obtained by phone or hailing one from the streets. Rates are fixed for single trips to one destination but rates for multiple trips can be negotiated on an hourly basis.
